MockupChat is a browser-based chat mockup generator for marketing, product demos, storytelling and teaching. Create illustrated conversations in 16 messaging app styles and export them as PNG images or, with Pro, as animated MP4 videos. The editor works without an account. Free PNG exports are available for WhatsApp, iMessage and Instagram with a watermark.

## Questions and limitations

### Does MockupChat send messages to real messaging apps?

No. MockupChat creates illustrated chat screens. It does not send messages or connect to your WhatsApp, Instagram or other messaging accounts.

### Can I create a chat mockup without signing up?

Yes. Open the editor, choose an app, edit the participants and messages, then export a PNG. Free exports work for WhatsApp, iMessage and Instagram and include a watermark. An account is required for Pro and cloud projects.

### Can I export videos or animated conversations?

Yes, with Pro. The MP4 export plays the conversation back message by message with typing indicators, in 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5. It renders in your browser and works in current Chrome, Edge and Safari. Free accounts export PNG images.

### Where are my chat drafts stored?

Anonymous drafts stay in your browser. When you use Pro to save a cloud project or upload images, those files are stored on Cloudflare. See the Privacy policy for account and service data handling.

### Is MockupChat affiliated with the messaging platforms?

No. MockupChat is an independent design tool. Messaging app names are trademarks of their respective owners. Label illustrated conversations as mockups when they could be mistaken for real messages.
